Benton County’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.5% in February, down from 5.1% in January, according to new data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Despite the monthly improvement, the February 2025 rate remains higher than the 3.3% reported in the same month last year.

Benton was among 88 counties statewide that experienced a decline in unemployment during February. The department reported that only five counties saw an increase, while two remained unchanged.

Overall, 84 counties posted rates below 5%, with Benton among the 11 counties that exceeded that threshold but remained under 10%.

Statewide, Tennessee’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained steady at 3.7% for the sixth consecutive month. The national unemployment rate was slightly higher, at 4.1%.
