Danny Gilbert, of Big Sandy, won the fall football contest this week, correctly picking 15 of 16 games for week number eight. Right behind Gilbert was contestant Randy Gilbreth, of Bruceton, who made 14 correct picks.

The only game Gilbert missed was the Kentucky versus South Carolina college contest. S.C. bested Kentucky 24-14, clearly a surprise to Gilbert, and also his competitor Gilbreth. For his second miss, Gilbreth misjudged the Huntingdon versus Westview game, incorrectly choosing the Mustangs. Westview won that match up with a score of 34-27.

Gilbert event got the tie-break question right, choosing 56 as the high point mark for the week. The record high score of 56 was seen in three contest games last week, scored by Dresden, Fairview, and McKenzie in their respective wins.

Take a careful look at the week nine contest on page 2B of this paper. Watch out for any “sure bets,” as those rarely work out well in football. Any cancelled games will be counted as correct answers.

Try your luck at winning the $25 prize! Review the matchups, make your choices, and complete the entry form with 16 correct picks. Don’t forget to mark an answer for the tie-break question, and be sure to get your completed form to The Chronicle office by Friday at 5 p.m.
