Early Monday morning, March 6, a Lexington man driving a Kenworth semi-truck with no trailer swerved to miss a deer on Rockport-McIllwain Road in Holladay. At 4:38 a.m., a smart sensor in his truck sent out a signal that the truck had been involved in an accident.

Nicholas Mock, 35, lost his life in that accident. When a BCSO deputy arrived on the scene shortly after the signal was received at dispatch, he discovered an upside-down semi cab in a field adjacent to the road, with the deceased victim trapped inside. Mock was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Tennessee Highway Patrol took charge at the scene. Officers noted that a deer had been struck in the roadway. The THP report indicates that Mock’s vehicle exited the roadway and overturned, causing his untimely death. No other vehicles or persons were involved in the accident.
