As we celebrate Veteran’s Day and continue to honor our vets throughout the holiday season, we need to continue pushing our efforts to do more for those that have sacrificed their freedoms to help us continue to have ours. Our military veterans are the bravest individuals we know, so giving back helps show the world that we appreciate those who sacrificed their lives for us. Here’s why you should donate to a veteran’s charity.

The Veterans Volunteered Their Freedoms

As stated above, many of our veterans risked their lives for us, and so it’s our due diligence to give back in the best ways to show our appreciation. As awareness of our appreciation, we need to donate to veterans’ charities.

In thanks for their sacrifices, we can make our own sacrifices by giving away things we no longer feel attached to or need.

The Organizations Help Fight Homelessness

With COVID-19 coming to somewhat of a steady state, many veterans find themselves homeless due to the job shortage of 2020 and the high housing prices. However, as states continue to fight homelessness, many charities are preparing themselves to give as many donations as possible to veterans to fight poverty.

We need to do our part by donating what we can, such as clothes, food, personal hygiene supplies, and fun items such as books and games. As we come together this holiday season, let’s start by donating what we can to veterans’ charities and helping prevent displacement.

They Provide Better Access To Resources

For veterans to get from their home or a store to the VA, they need reliable transportation. So, aside from donating clothing and non-perishables, we could donate a vehicle to help veterans get where they need to go or have their caretaker take them.

When we provide better access to resources, we help veterans feel less intimidated or scared when asking for help, especially if they need medical attention. Providing better resources also encourages veterans to seek help with psychological issues.

They Show the World That We Respect Our Heroes

When veterans return home, we must continue to show the world that we respect them and continue to do our part to help them shift into civilian life. However, to help get returning soldiers onto their feet, we need to give back in different ways and help them have an improved life out of the military.

As we show our appreciation, we introduce ourselves to the world as a caring nation. So, instead of simply donating money, get out and volunteer with others to give back to veterans in need and give to a veteran’s charity.

The holidays are a busy time for all of us, especially those that return home from the military. As we light a torch for our veterans, we need to reflect on why we honor and support our returning troops. These are the reasons why you should donate to a veteran’s charity and continue to do it in years to come.
