United Way Radio Auction in second week

The spring United Way of Benton County (UWBC) Radio Auction began Monday, March 7, and will continue each weekday through Friday, March 18. There are plenty of chances for everyone to support this great charity during the auction’s 2-week run.

Tune in from 1-5 p.m. each weekday to WRJB 95.9 FM for daily auctions. Call in bids to either 731-468-4219 or 731-468-4216. If you get voicemail, please call back. Look for photos of items to be auctioned each day on the UWBC Facebook page.

Lunch begins daily at 11 a.m. Meals are for curbside pick-up only. Each meal costs $8, and includes a dessert and drink. Auctioneers and the menu for upcoming days include:

Wednesday, March 9 – Italian roast beef sandwich and chips from Friends of UWBC.Auctioneers: Scott Owens, Susan Hubbs, Brittany Hassell, and Michele Wright.

Thursday, March 10 – Chicken leg quarters, corn, mac & cheese, and cornbread from Missionary Grove Baptist. Auctioneers: Heather D. Smith, Lesli Woods, Ryan Hall, and Sonya Volz.

Friday, March 11 – Craig’s lasagna, salad, and bread from Holladay United Methodist. Auctioneers: Kenny Madrey, Jeff Piskos, David Thomas, and Brad Hopkins.

Monday, March 14 – Nawlin’s Food Truck will offer its regular fare, and collect donations for UWBC. Auctioneers: Elizabeth Volz, Paula Thompson, Chelsea Presson, and Leah Webb.

Tuesday, March 15 – Meatloaf, green beans, creamed potatoes, and a roll from First Baptist. Auctioneers: Michele Wright, David Thomas, Joey Cooper, and Robert Hudson.

Wednesday, March 16 – Goodwings chicken fingers, fries, and slaw from Benton County Ministerial Alliance. Auctioneers: Dylan Powley, Brad Hopkins, and Donna Vick.

Thursday, March 17 – DayMaker club sandwich and chips from a Friend of United Way. Auctioneers: Michele Wright, David Thomas, Jennifer Hedge, and Shannon Dykstra.

Friday, March 18 – Ribeye steak sandwich or BBQ bologna sandwich and chips from Cowell’s Chapel UMC and Friends of UWBC. Auctioneers: Steve Whitworth, Richard Wright, Brad Hopkins, and David Thomas.

Each day, donated items and purchased items will be dropped off or picked up at the double doors of the gym, where a volunteer will assist you. Registration of items starts at 8:30 a.m. When picking up purchased items, give your name, pay outside, and items will be brought to you. UWBC will accept cash, check, or credit/debit cards (3 percent fee added on cards).

People may come inside to look at items. There also is a section blocked off with long-term items on display for people to come in and bid. Long-term items will be auctioned on Friday, March 18.

Another way to help UWBC is to become a Daily Sponsor for $50 per day, or an Event Sponsor for $500. For more information about becoming a sponsor, call 731-441-2299.
