United Way Radio Auction heads into second week

The Good Neighbor Radio Auction, held by the United Way of Benton County is once again underway. Each weekday from Monday, Oct. 8., through Friday, Oct. 26, listeners can hear the auction on WRJB- FM 95.9 in Camden from 1-5 p.m.

The First United Methodist Church on the square is again hosting the auction, with doors opening at 9 a.m. for anyone wishing to donate items or write in bids before they go on the air at 1 p.m. The proceeds of all items donated for the benefit of the United Way will be distributed in Benton County (BC).

For the low cost of $7, lunch will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day of the auction, with a dessert and drink included. The scheduled lunches and donated items are:

  • Thursday, Oct. 11: Missionary Grove Baptist will offer smoked chicken leg quarters, baked beans, potato salad, slaw, and rolls. Auction items: BC Courthouse, Carroll Bank & Trust, Eva VFD, Missionary Grove Baptist. Auctioneers: Chase Jordan, Brett Lashlee, Wanda Malin, Katelyn Spivey.
  • Friday, Oct. 12: Craig’s Pizza will offer lasagna, salad, and breadsticks. Auction items: BC Library, Flatwoods Methodist, Natchez Trace Baptist. Auctioneers: Susan Hubbs, Autumn Ratliff, Jenna Cole Wilson, Stephanie Harcleroad.
  • Monday, Oct. 15: Flatwoods Methodist will offer spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread. Crossroads Baptist will provide lemonade and dessert. Auction items: BC Ministerial Alliance, Cowell’s Chapel Methodist, Eva Baptist, First United Methodist, Shiloh Methodist. Auctioneers: Tim Burrus, Jennifer Hedge, Paula Thompson, FUMC.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 16: Friends of the Library and Gary Jones will offer BBQ and all the “fixins.” Auction items: BC Rescue Squad, Big Sandy Baptist, Camden Jr. High, McRae’s Chapel, Post Oak Methodist. Auctioneers: Kim Hudson, Chelsea Presson, Tyler Presson, Leah Webb.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 17: New Beginnings Church will offer hot dogs, chilidogs, slaw dogs, and chips. Auction items: BC 4-H, BC Volunteer Program, Carey Counseling Group Home, Church of God of Prophecy, Legend Cruisers, New Beginnings, TVA Credit Union. Auctioneers: Mark Florence, Justin Hargrove, Amanda Paschall, Heather Smith.
  • Thursday, Oct. 18: Camden First Baptist will offer a fully loaded taco bar. Auction items: BC Track & Field, First Bank, First Baptist, Camden Elementary, Eva Methodist, Holladay Church of Christ, WRAP. Auctioneers: Jean Chandler, Joey Cooper, Robert Hudson, Marko Winters.
