What a great week we had last week here in Benton County. Thank you to every business that hosted an Open House. We tried to get around to most of them, but with so many, we couldn’t make them all! What a wonderful blessing and sign of the healthy businesses in the county. If we did not make it to yours, please know that we wanted to be there. I hope that you had a wonderful turnout and had the opportunity to share your business success with the community.

Our Christmas Movie Night was held this past Saturday. What an amazing night it was! We had over 200 people come out to the Birdsong Drive-In to watch The Polar Express with their families and friends. We enjoyed getting to greet every single one of you at the window.

I want to thank John and Melissa York, owners of Birdsong Drive-In, for allowing us to host this event at their venue. Drive-In’s are not as common as they used to be, and I would venture to say that we have one of the very best. Their dedication to the community and the pride they take in their facility is outstanding. We look forward to hosting another movie night there soon.

Upcoming Events

On Saturday, Dec. 22, the Benton County Library will host their Family Movie Matinee starting at 12 p.m. The free movie for this event will be The Berenstain Bears Christmas Tree and A Christmas Story. For more information, call the Library at 731-584-4772.
Get ready for the New Year’s Day Hike! On Jan. 1, Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park will host their signature New Year’s Day Hike, which is open to the public. The trail ranges from 1-3 miles, and is a great way to work off some of those extra holiday pounds. For more information, call the NBF State Park office at 741-584-6356.

Chamber Spotlight

In this week’s Chamber Spotlight, we would like to highlight Downhome Family Restaurant. Downhome has been cooking up delicious homemade meals for Benton Countians and out of town travelers since 2008.

Joyce Deaton is the owner. Some of her employees are actual family, but she considers them all family. Joyce loves people and wants to be a help in the community by treating all of her customers just like family members. Within the Downhome family, they will tell you that God comes first in their business, then the customer.

Downhome is open every day from 5 a.m.-3 p.m. Check out their lunch specials every day by giving them a call at 731-584-1989. The Benton County/Camden Chamber of Commerce is proud to have Downhome Family Restaurant as a Chamber member and a very important part of the Benton County community.
