What a beautiful weekend!

Posted

Wow!!! What a busy and beautiful weekend we had here in Benton County! We hope you and your family enjoyed the Labor Day Holiday. The weather was great, there was a lot to do, and plenty of wonderful friends and neighbors with whom to share special times.

As the 2019 Bargain Highway has come to a close, the Chamber would like to thank all the individuals and businesses that participated in this year’s event. Numerous people had a hand in making this event possible, and we appreciate each one of you! Whether you purchased an ad on the map, set up a sale in your yard, or just got out and shopped, Bargain Highway could not happen without you.

Thanks to The Camden Chronicle, Pamela Mirabella, WRJB radio, Ron Lane, Bobby “Flash” Melton, and Dylan Powley for the great ads and event coverage. Thanks to Kristi Halsey at The Funky Banana and Ryan Hall for help with the Bargain Highway maps. Thanks to all of those involved with law enforcement for keeping our roads, citizens, and visitors safe. And, a special thanks to the Tennessee River Resort District (TRRD) for sponsoring Bargain Highway year after year - your investment in the our county is truly appreciated!

Finally, we offer a heartfelt thanks to our citizens for your kindness and patience in welcoming Bargain Highway visitors each year. No doubt they go home and talk about how nice it was to visit all those friendly and helpful people in Benton County. That great word-of-mouth helps to promote our county better than anything!

Planning Ahead

After the success of last year’s “Halloween on the Square,” the Camden Downtown Business Association (CDBA) came to be. It was formed by locals who love the downtown area and want to see it thrive. The CDBA is planning this year’s “Halloween on the Square” for Monday, Oct. 28, beginning at 5:30 p.m. If your business or group would like to participate, contact Vicki Fry Whitworth or S&S Insurance. A business doesn’t have to be located on the square to participate. Follow CDBA on Facebook, and be sure to like and share with your friends.

The Benton County Fair will host “Christmas at the Fair” on Saturday, Dec. 7, starting at 9 a.m. There will be craft vendors, a chili lunch, kid’s craft’s, cookies, hot chocolate, and pictures with Santa! Details and activities are still being finalized, and vendors can sign up by contacting Penny or Irice Clifft at the Log House Nursery on Facebook. For $20 each, booths (about 8’x 8’ in size) are available inside the white exhibit building. Space is limited number, so sign up early.
