VFW honors local post commander

Posted

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) organization recently announced that Kevin Lee Miller has achieved All-American status as a post commander. To achieve this honor, post commanders must meet strict role requirements, including exceptional leadership, authentic accomplishment in membership growth, and strong support of VFW core programs.

A life member and commander of Post 2109 in Camden, Miller is one of 251 VFW post commanders worldwide to earn the title of All-American Commander. His hard work has played an integral role in helping the organization successfully remain focused on its service to veterans amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Commanders like Kevin Lee Miller are fine examples of VFW leadership, and it’s their hard work and dedication to the mission and values of our organization that has rightly earned them this great honor,” said VFW Membership Director Rick Butler.

Camden Post 2109 also was named an All-State Post for the 2019-20 year. Of the 96 posts in Tennessee, only five received this recognition. The award recognizes a VFW post’s involvement in many of the organization’s outreach programs, and is a true indication of an active and successful post.

Additionally, Camden Post 2109 was recognized with four national certificates of appreciation, for participating in Patriot’s Pen, Teacher of the Year, Voice of Democracy, and veterans and military support programs. Further, Post 2109 also received a plaque from the department for exceeding 100 percent membership in the 2019-20 fiscal year.

The VFW is the nation's largest and oldest major war veterans’ organization, and is dedicated to veterans’ services, legislative advocacy, and military and community service programs. Founded in 1899, the congressionally chartered VFW is comprised entirely of eligible veterans and military service members from active, guard, and reserve forces.

With more than 1.5 million VFW and Auxiliary members located in 6,000 posts worldwide, the nonprofit veterans service organization is proud to proclaim, “No one does more for Veterans than the VFW.” For more information or to join, visit www.vfw.org.
