Just in time for the kids to head back to school, a little planning can save big money during Tennessee’s tax-free weekend, July 26-28.

The weekend begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday and ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday. Things such as clothing that cost $100 or less per item, school and art supplies that cost $100 or less per item and computers and tablets that cost $1,500 or less will all be tax free.

Not sure what else is on the list? Here is a run-down what could be best to buy during tax-free weekend. Aerobic clothing, antique clothing, aprons, and athletic socks, all made the list. Baby clothes, diapers, and receiving blankets, as well as backpacks, bandanas, bathing suits, belts, bibs, binders, blackboard chalk, blouses, book bags, boots, bow ties, bowling shirts, bridal gowns and bridal veils, all are tax-free that weekend.

Other items covered include, calculators, caps, chef uniforms, choir and altar clothing, coats, compasses, composition books, computers, notebooks, laptops, and tablets, as long as they are $1500 or less. It must be noted that includes CPU and other bundled components such as speakers, monitor, keyboard, mouse, cables, and basic software.

Costumes, including novelty children’s costumes, coveralls, cowboy boots, crayons, gloves and shoes, dresses, ear muffs, erasers, folders, formal clothing, glue, paste, golf clothing, graduation caps and gowns, gym suits, hats, highlighters, and assorted school supplies, are all included.

Winter clothing, nightgowns and pajamas, and walking shoes round out the list of tax-exempt items. For the full list of items tax-free the last weekend of July, visit www.tn.gov.
