Posted

On Saturday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made it official and Camden’s very own, Tanner Hudson joined the 53-man roster with the NFL franchise.

Hudson, the 24-year-old son of Danny and Karen Hudson has already had an impressive college football career after having success with Southern Arkansas. He signed with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2018 making the practice squad that year.

After a formidable showing during preseason games, Hudson made an impact. One Tampa Bay reporter called Hudson a “revelation at the tight end spot.” The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Twitter tweeted his highlighted touchdown against Dallas, saying, “Yep, It’s Tanner time.”

One major highlight that traveled throughout mainstream media outlets was Hudson’s one-hand catch during the Browns game. Over the four preseason games, Hudson caught three touchdown passes.

Hudson will be one of four tight ends for the team. He joins Antony Auclair, Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard.

Back at home, a community is still celebrating. Hundreds of people shared the news on social media. Each and every one of them sharing messages of congratulations and well-wishes. Former coaches and school personnel also shared sentiments. Camden’s Head Football Coach William Blow said, “Tanner is one of the best all-around athletes that I have ever seen.” Benton County School Director Mark Florence added, “Congratulations to Camden Central High School Graduate Tanner Hudson for making the Tampa Bay Bucs roster. We are proud of your accomplishments.”

Moments after hearing of her son’s signing, Karen Hudson said, “We found out by reading it on the Bucs post first. We thought the phone would ring with the news, but it didn’t happen that way. We were so excited to know he was noticed and given credit for his hard work throughout this process.”

She finished with, “We just want to thank the community for being with us through this process. It’s always better when you can share special moments with family and friends.”

For fun, check out Hudson being “mic’d” during the Dallas game on Buccaneers.com. He allows his personality to shine by singing and cheering on teammates. Even at one point, saying, “Hey, mom” as he spots Karen in the stands.

Hudson and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will play San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, September 8 at 3:25 p.m. Folks back home can watch the game on FOX channel, where available.
