Posted

What a great first week at the United Way Good Neighbor Radio Auction! It fills my heart to see Benton Countians coming together to raise much-needed funds for United Way’s 18 different partner agencies that help folks from so many different walks of life. Make sure to tune in on weekdays on WRJB 95.9 from 1-5 p.m. to place bids on so many wonderful things.

Upcoming Events

The October calendar is turning into one busy month for Benton County, chock full of great activities for everyone to enjoy. Have a look at some of the events that are coming up:

Cadets will lead aerospace games and activities for all ages from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Bring lawn chairs to enjoy robotics and rocketry demos, a flight simulator, search and rescue demo, and survival activities.

Certified pilots will offer free flights for children ages 8-17. Children must be accompanied by a guardian. Concessions will be available. For more information, call the Benton County Airport at 731-584-5343.

For more info., call the library at 731-584-4772.

On Wednesday, Oct. 24, the “Full Moon and S’mores” hike will be held at the NBF State Park. Meet at the ball field for a 1-mile hike along the Pafford Wilson trail. Wear sturdy shoes, bring bug spray, and a flashlight. S’mores will be provided by the campfire. The cost is $5 per person. For more info., call 731-584-6356.

Saturday, Oct. 27, will be the grand finale of the Camden “Cruise In” for 2018. The Cruise In’s have been wonderful this year, and we expect the finale to be just as spectacular! The Cruise In will begin at 3 p.m. at Ray Smith Chevrolet.

NBF State Park will host its annual Haunted Trail on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 7-9 p.m. Every year near Halloween the Polk Creek Trail is visited by ghosts and ghouls of all kinds. Take a wagon ride from Shelter 1 to this ghostly site and be prepared for a scare! There is a charge of $1 per person or a canned good for admission. For more info., call 731-584-6356.

If your organization is having a Fall Festival or Trunk-or-Treat, please inform the Chamber at 731-584-8395 so that we can help to promote your event! Thank you all for what you do in Benton County. Until next week, friends, have a good one!
