Lions travel to Stewart Co. Friday

Posted

Camden takes to the road Friday for perhaps its most important game of the season when they take on region 6-3A co-leader Stewart County. Their final three games will determine playoff possibilities.

The Lions are only 1-6 over-all, but 1-2 in region play. Both Camden and Stewart County have two region games left. After the trip to Dover this Friday Camden goes to Lewis County for a non-region game and finishes at home on Senior Night against winless region foe Sycamore.

With four teams going to the TSSAA state playoffs the Lions can finish as high as a two-way tie for second place, For that to occur they must beat Stewart County and Sycamore and then the Rebels lose Friday and also lose in their final game to Fairview.

Harpeth is 2-1 in the region with Cheatham County and Fairview left to play. In all probability they will finish at 3-2 in the region but who knows with this COVID-19 altered season?

Stewart County would have to lose their last two region games and Camden win theirs.

There is the possibility of a three-way tie for second. Fairview is not a clear winner until they play Stewart County.

As odd as it may sound, Sycamore and Cheatham County, both winless, still have a mathematical chance to make the playoffs.
