Happy Halloween, Benton County!

Posted

Happy Halloween, friends! We love to see all of the little goblins, ghosts, pirates, princesses, and more going around town to all of the trunk-or-treats and door-to-door. I hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday.

Last week we announced that Marcus Bond will be our Grand Marshal for the 2018 Camden Christmas Parade. We are so proud to have Marcus lead our parade! Marcus received more than 400 votes, so thanks to everyone who called and voted for him. Go ahead and mark Saturday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. on your calendar, and come out for the annual Christmas Parade.

Upcoming Events

Make plans to join us Friday, Nov. 2, at DayMaker Café at 11 a.m. for their ribbon cutting. We have heard the all the positive buzz around town and we agree: DayMaker is absolutely wonderful!

A Living History Event will be held this weekend on Friday and Saturday at Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park. There will be artillery, infantry, cavalry, and civilian demonstrations taking place at Eva Beach throughout each day. I’ve been to this event several times and it is wonderful, especially if you happen to enjoy history. For more information, call 731-584-6356.

The Hometown Holiday event will be held this Saturday, Nov. 3, at Briarwood School from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. There are over 30 vendors signed up to display their products. This will be a great opportunity to “shop local” to fill up your Christmas gift list. Admission is free, and there will be door prizes and concessions available.

Do you like chili? You like bingo? Then you’re in luck! The Benton County Volunteer Program’s “Chili and Bingo Night” will be held Friday, Nov. 9, at the First United Methodist Church starting at 5 p.m. For only $8, you get chili and all the fixings, a dessert, a drink, and five bingo cards. Extra bingo cards are only $1 each, and there will also be a silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the BCVP.
