It’s busier than ever here at the Chamber office. We are entering into our database the names of all the individuals who signed up for the $1,000 Give-A-Way during Bargain Highway, in preparation to draw a lucky winner during fair week! Yes, the Chamber actually does give away $1,000.
It may not be completely transparent how a winner is chosen, so we would like to clear up any confusion. We don’t cut the handwritten names, put them in a spinner, and draw out a name. The names, phone numbers, and addresses are entered into our database, and then the hand-written sheets are shredded. On Give-A-Way day at the fair we open the spreadsheet live on the radio. A computer randomly generates a number, and the name that matches that number in the spreadsheet is the winner.
By entering data into a spreadsheet, it also allows the Chamber to analyze information about who participated in Bargain Highway, such as how many states were represented, how many people spent the night, and much more. We look forward to sharing that information with Benton County very soon!
