Enjoy Fall Fest at LBL Nature Station

Posted

Woodlands Nature Station at Land Between the Lakes (LBL) will host Fall Fest on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The Fall Fest theme this year is “Workin’ for the Winter!”

The festival will focus on local wildlife that does not migrate and spends the fall preparing for winter. There will be games and activities for all ages to learn about these hard workers. Visitors can enjoy hayrides, live craft demonstrations and music, and games to celebrate these industrious animals.

“This is an excellent opportunity for the whole family to enjoy the fall season and participate in outdoor programs and activities,” says Tim Johnson, a naturalist at Woodlands Nature Station.

Hayrides will be 40-minutes long, $2 per person, and leave regularly throughout the day. Riders are challenged to see if they can spot any animals preparing for winter!

Other activities ongoing throughout the day will include the Opossum Crawl Obstacle Course, visits with Smokey Bear, and making fall nature crafts on the animal assembly line. Live demonstrations by local craftsmen will include Justin Driver showing off his chainsaw carving skills, Justin Roberts making willow furniture by hand, and Rob Smith conducting a flint napping demonstration.

The Brio String Ensemble will perform off and on throughout the day. At 3 p.m., “The Mighty Tree” puppet show will be performed for visitors.

Nature Station admission is $5 for ages 13 and up, $3 for ages 5-12, and free for ages 4 and under. Except as noted, all programs are free with admission. For more information, call 270-924-2299 or visit www.landbetweenthelakes.us.
