Class of 2019 partied like it’s 1999

Camden High School (CHS) students danced the night away to their “Party Like It’s 1999” themed prom on Saturday evening. For the second consecutive year, Allison Leonard coordinated the event.

According to Leonard, the junior class began fundraising in the fall. Junior class officers, Ethan Rickard, Mackinley Harris, Eyan Hudson, Kay Pierce, Cade Wyatt, and Kiersten Holland chose the theme and along with the coordinator chose the color schemes, linens, centerpieces, and other decor. Leonard said juniors Zack Oxford, Riley Walker, and Julie Baker provided assistance with the set-up.

Leonard said the prom would not have been nearly as successful without local professionals. She explained, “Melissa Vinson with MelRhea Balloons has been an integral part of CHS prom decorations for about 15 years now. DJ Tan the Man, Tanner Bertram, kept the students entertained and played a blend of today’s hit and 90’s music throughout the evening. Brandon Anderson, owner of Dossy’s Catering and chef at Daymaker Cafe, provided dinner. Misty White Photography offered picture packages and stayed busy most of the night.”

She finished with, “Another huge thank you to all the helpers I had on Saturday evening and along the way, Shawn McDowell, Dawn Churchwell, Angie Henry, Katie Ramer, Chad and Shannon Riley, Tim and Kristy Phifer, Jordan Hawley, Regina McGuire, Benton County Schools maintenance, CHS cafeteria staff and cleaning crew, and the junior class officers. None of this would’ve been possible without all the help from Pam Myrick, especially the fundraiser and ticket sales.”

Leonard smiled, “One last thank you to Jesse Leonard for listening to me be crazy more so than normal and, of course, to Caleb for counting glow sticks.”
