Camden’s newest holiday event, Christmas at the Fair is slated for Saturday, December the 8th, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., at the Fairgrounds located at 187 Natchez Trace Rd.
According to event planner, Kathy Weatherly, throughout the day, the fairgrounds will play host to a plethora of activities. Weatherly stated, “We have more than 30 vendors signed-up for the craft show. There will be coffee and donuts for the morning crowd at 9 a.m., and chili and pimento and cheese sandwich specials later in the day, beginning at 11 a.m.”
Weatherly said that in addition to crafts and gifts being sold, there will be armbands for children at 9 a.m. For $5, children will receive an armband that allows them to make 10 different crafts throughout the venue. Some of the offerings include decorating cookies, making reindeer food, and Christmas ornaments. They will also get a “Santa bag” to take their creations home in.
Weatherly said the event will pause for an intermission at 2 p.m., long enough for everyone to line the parade route in time for the Camden Christmas Parade.
At 5 p.m., the event will re-open and Santa will be on the grounds for picture opportunities. One free picture will be offered to everyone, with the opportunity to purchase more, if desired.
Organizers will light the Christmas tree around 5 p.m. and hot chocolate and cookies will follow.
Weatherly said she hopes this is a well-attended and received event that will continue to grow in years to come.
