Posted

Home field in the first round of the TSSAA state playoffs is on the line Friday when Sycamore invades Wright Field to battle the Camden Lions.

Both teams are knotted in second place with identical 2-1 records in region play. Friday’s winner is guaranteed second place which means a home game in at least the first round of the playoffs.

Teams that Sycamore and Camden have both played (results in parentheses) are: Cheatham County (21-7 and 33-0 respectively), and Fairview (13-33 and 14-21).

Camden is riding a two game win streak (both shut outs) over Cheatham County and Martin Westview while Sycamore has lost three in a row after a 3-2 start. Their biggest win was over Cheatham County as the other two wins have come against 0-8 Hunters Lane and 1-7 Stewart County. They have scored in every ball game with their biggest point total coming in a 54-26 victory over Stewart County, Camden’s last regular season opponent and a region foe.

Friday is Senior Night in Camden and the last home game. Before the kick-off the football players, managers, stat team. cheerleaders, and band members will be honored along with their parents.

In the playoffs Region 6-3A matches up against Region 5-3A from Nashville and the area. Second place would play third, which before this Friday is Giles County (Pulaski) which is 5-3 overall. Pearl-Cohn (7-2) is first, East (8-1) is second, Giles County third and Stratford (3-5) fourth. Four teams from each region qualify for the playoffs.
