John Beasley
BCRS Unit Director
The Benton County Rescue Squad is pleased to welcome Andy Travis to its membership. Travis was approved for full membership by a unanimous vote of BCRS members after he completed one year of probationary training. Travis joins an active membership of more than 30 people dedicated to serving Benton County.
“I have always wanted to make a difference in my community, and serving in the rescue squad is an honor,” stated Travis.
During the probationary period, Travis completed all of the required prerequisites including classroom instruction and hands-on extrication training in the junkyard. He was able to demonstrate an understanding of the operation of many of the tools and equipment used in motor vehicle extrication that BCRS performs to remove people trapped in vehicles after accidents.
Travis lives in Camden and is employed at Granges Americas in Huntingdon as a maintenance technician. Travis loves spending time with his wife Bryce and 1-year-old son, Drew. They are expecting their second child soon. Travis also enjoys running, staying physically fit, golfing, hunting, and fishing in his leisure time.
BCRS is always looking to recruit dedicated people who are willing to serve their community. Anyone who is interested in joining the rescue squad is encouraged to come to the rescue squad headquarters located at 295 Factory Street in Camden to learn more about membership requirements and opportunities to serve. Information about joining and applications for membership are available during BCRS meeting and training dates on the first and third Tuesdays each month at 7 p.m.
The rescue squad is staffed by dedicated volunteers from the community who continually train to be able to respond to many types of accidents. In addition to vehicle extrication, the BCRS provides other vital services to the residents of Benton County including farm rescue, water rescue and recovery, land searches, and trench rescue.
