Tornado kills one, injures more in Benton County

A man was reportedly killed when a tornado ripped through Benton County the late night hours of Monday, March 2, into the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 3. At least eight other Tennesseans lost their lives as the storm travelled East.

According to Sheriff Kenny Christopher, a 67-year-old man died as a result of injuries sustained in the storm. Authorities withheld the man’s name while they notified his family.

Benton County agencies continued working through the night and into the morning. Among the agencies assisting the community, were:  Benton County Highway Department, Camden Fire Department, Camden Water Department, Benton County Electric System, Benton County Rescue Squad, EMS, EMA, Benton County Sheriff’s Office and local law enforcement.

The state-wide death toll has risen to 11.
