Top officials agree that the county transportation van at the Benton County Airport has been an embarrassment for quite awhile. Benton County Mayor Brett Lashlee said on Wednesday, “We have had big businesses fly into Benton County and when they were shuttled around the area, the vehicle available has been off-putting, to say the least.”

Airport Board Chairman, Darrel Berry agreed. He decided to make a change for the betterment of the airport and county. On Wednesday, December 12, he donated a 2010 Dodge Caravan. As he signed over the title to Lashlee, the mayor thanked him and said, “We graciously thank you and appreciate your dedication to the airport and all of Benton County.”

Councilman Rocky Presson said this was an important addition to the airport and the county was very thankful. County Commission Chairman Ward Plant shared the sentiment. “We are so grateful for all Mr. Barry has done for our airport and community. This van will be used to promote Benton County in many ways.”

Lashlee said the shuttle van was just a small part of what Berry brings to the airport. “We are so fortunate to have a man with such dedication at the helm of the Airport Board. He does so much that most people never see.”
