New community calendar to improve event attendance

Business owners and local leaders met on Thursday evening to discuss the need for a community calendar to aid organizations in better scheduling for planned events.

“This will greatly improve attendance at community events,” County Mayor Brett Lashlee said addressing the table full of interested people. “This will also benefit their outreach as the local newspaper can better cover events when they are spread out and not all on the same day.” Everyone in attendance agreed.

With a motto, “One Community…One Place…One Calendar,” the community calendar will be a one place stop for locals who want to plan their schedules around the many events planned throughout the year. The calendar will be up-and-running just in time for fall events. It will be on social media under, “Benton Co. Community Events & Calendar.”

DayMaker Café Owner Dawn Bongiovanni, Benton County Public Library Director Susan Hubbs and The Camden Chronicle Chief Editor Pamela Mirabella will be administrators and work through one email format.

While the community calendar will not be for personal events such as yard sales and family reunions, it will be for publicly invited events occurring throughout the county.
