Benton County Minor League Football and Cheer is preparing for another action-packed season. There are three flag divisions offered to kids ages 4-10, as well as two tackle divisions for kids ages 7-12. In addition, cheerleading opportunities are open to kids ages 4-12.
“I feel like this will be our best season yet,” said League President Jimmy Kenniston. “We’ve got a great board of directors and even more awesome coaches and volunteers who pour their heart into these kids. They make this all possible.”
The final day of sign-ups for any child wanting to play football or cheer is Thursday, Aug. 4. Anyone still needing to sign up must do so between 6-8 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church gym in Camden.
The season is scheduled to begin in September, with the championship games to be held in October. The cost for flag registration is $50, while tackle is also $50 plus a $30 refundable deposit that covers equipment. Cheerleader registration is $70, with participants being able to keep their uniforms for the next season.
“We’re always accepting more volunteers and sponsors,” said Kenniston. “There’s a lot that goes into setup and cleanup. We also are always looking for more coaches and officials.”
