Lions on a roll in district action

The Camden Lions and Lady Lions basketball teams hit the road for two district games this past week. The Lions continued their strong performance in district play with two wins, dispatching East Hickman by a score of 83-50 and beating Stewart County 82-49.

Kaden Story paced the Lions in their romp over East Hickman with 22 points, including 4 buckets from downtown. Wizdom Laws added 17, with Ayden Melton contributing 15. Other scorers included Briley Siler (11), Allan Zyla (7), and Beau Smith (5). The trio of Tucker Jackson, Nowah Porter, and Aiden Pierce each had 2 points.

The Lions’ 82-49 win over Stewart County found more of the same, with Melton pouring in 17 points to lead the Lions. Zyla had 16, Laws had 12, and Story had 10 as the Lions continued to roll in the district. Siler, Smith, and Porter each scored 6 in the contest. Ridge Bruce chipped in 3, with Isaac Moore rounding out the scoring with 2.

On the flip side, the Lady Lions struggled in their games last week, losing 57-29 at East Hickman and dropping a heartbreaker at Stewart County by a score of 29-28. It was a long ride home from the away contest for the CHS girls.

Among the Ladies, Bailey Morris was the leading scorer at East Hickman, tallying 14 points. Trinity Woodard added 7, while Addie Melton chipped in 4. Both Emma Pierce and Adalyn Furr had 2 points each in the loss.

Woodard was leading score for Camden in the nailbiter against Stewart County with 14 points. Furr added 8, Pierce had 4 in the contest, while Faith Wallace and Abbi-Grace Wallace each scored one point.
