West Tennessee families will be busy this month helping kids settle into new school routines. As excitement builds for great fall activities like football, county fairs, and spending time with friends, don’t forget to plan for emergencies. Help our area hospitals and EMS providers be ready by donating blood during an upcoming mobile drive.

“With schools starting back this week, it will be easy to get caught up in school events. Please make time to donate blood, however, because we are in urgent need of O+, O-, A-, and B- blood types,” said Melinda Reid, LifeLine Marketing Manager. “We are critically low, and every donation helps. Area critical care staff and facilities depend on donated blood to save lives.”

Remember, LifeLine Blood Services and Joe Mahan Ford have partnered up again to motivate donors. Donate blood with LifeLine until Labor Day to participate in the Fourth Annual LifeLine Car Giveaway and earn a chance to win a 2019 Ford EcoSport. Donors must be 18 years old to participate. The contest ends on Labor Day, with the winner to be drawn soon after.

Residents living in or near Benton County have several chances to donate blood at mobile drives this month. Nearby August blood drives include:

  • Aug. 4: Cash Saver in Huntingdon, 1-6 p.m.
  • Aug. 4: First United Methodist in Paris, noon-6 p.m.
  • Aug. 5: Food Giant in Parsons, 12:30-5:30 p.m.
  • Aug. 22: E.W. James in McKenzie, 1-6 p.m.
