Camden softball went 3-3 in week two of the season. The team now stands with an 8-3 record so far on the season, holding strong with a 2-0 standing in district play.

After a 4-2 away loss versus the Huntingdon Mustangs on Tuesday, March 19, the Lady Lions rebounded with a 7-0 district win at Hickman County on Thursday, March 21. Alix Hampton earned credit for the shutout from the pitcher’s mound.

On Friday and Saturday, the team competed in the Lady Warrior Southern Classic at Barfield Park in Murfreesboro. Each of the Lady Lions’ four opponents were from the state of Alabama, with all teams being ranked in their respective classes.

The bats were hot on Friday as Camden defeated Plainview 18-6 and Collinsville 10-3. Rylee Rushing hit two grand slams in the first game, and Brenna Caldwell and Brianna Minor both hit home runs in the second game. Picking up both wins in the pitching circle, Hampton again blazed hot.

The bats cooled on Saturday. The Lady Lions fell to Wilson High School 5-2 in an early morning game. After lunch and few hours off, the team found no ground against East Limestone, losing 9-1 in the late afternoon.

The Lady Lions have two district games in week three. On Tuesday, March 26, the team played at Lewis County (score not available). On Thursday, March 28, the Ladies will host Waverly at home. They finish out week three with a home game versus Riverside on Friday. Week four will begin with a district contest at Creek Wood on Tuesday, April 2.
