Joseph H. Swearingen 1944-2020

Joseph “Joe” Harold Swearingen, 75, of Camden, passed away Wednesday, July 29, at his residence. Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 1, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Oakdale Funeral Home of Camden with Gary Greer officiating. Burial followed at Benton Memory Gardens.

Mr. Swearingen was born Oct. 7, 1944, in San Francisco, Calif., to the late Harold Swearingen and Olivia Edwards Swearingen. He was a retired boilermaker of 50 plus years with Local Union 455, a Mason and Shriner for 50 years, and a founding member of Grace Baptist Church in Camden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Woodrow “Tiny” White, and David and Thomas Swearingen, and two sisters Mary L. Bain, and Peggy Reeves.

He is survived by his wife, Zula Swearingen; a son, Brian Swearingen, of Camden; two daughters, Angela (Greg) Henry, of Camden, and Holly (Erik) Rowan, of Trenton; a brother, Jerry W. (Pat) Swearingen, of East Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Carver, Dr. Noelle Henry, Lillie, Adri, and Nevaeh Swearingen, and Macie and Kaden Rowan, and one great-grandchild, Madeline Carver.
