Can you believe how fast time goes by? It seems that New Year’s Eve was just a few days ago, and now here we are at the beginning of May. But you know what they say – time flies when you’re having fun. I know I’m loving my life here in our wonderful community, and I hope you are as well.

The Chamber office will be closed periodically this week as we prepare for the JumpFish Jamboree this weekend. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but all calls to the Chamber phone number will be forwarded to our cell phones. You can also reach us by messaging us on Facebook.

Last Friday, our festival planning team stood at Eva beach, making final plans for where everything will be set up. We envisioned the crowd circling through the area, the musicians, the cooking contestants, the carnival rides and games, and the vendors all in place. We began planning this last October, and now it is the week of the event. It seems surreal.

The goal of the JumpFish Jamboree is to raise awareness of the Asian Carp invasion and its threat to our ecosystem and county tourism. But, in addition to its serious message, we also want you to have fun at this event. So, come join us at Eva Beach this Saturday, May 4. Bring your lawn chairs and spend the day. It’s going to be a great!

Upcoming Events

Make plans to attend the Pickin’ in the Park event at Eva Beach on Saturday, May 11. Come to the Eva Beach stage for an afternoon of live music. Bring your own chairs. For more information, call NBFSP at 731-584-6356.

The annual Big Sandy Spring Festival will be held again this year on the Friday and Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, May 24-25. This festival was the recipient of the 2019 John Latham Tourism Award because it truly is a wonderful event. Festivities include a parade, food, carnival rides, games, car show, live music, and so much more. This year’s theme is “Reaching New Heights” because they will be adding hot air balloon rides. Mayor Autumn Ratliff has promised that this year’s festival will be the best ever!
