Jason Wayne Steele, 48, of Ridgeland, Miss., formerly of Camden, passed away Thursday, Oct. 24. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, at 4 p.m., in the chapel of Oakdale Funeral Home of Camden. Visitation will be Saturday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home. Please wear either UT orange or a Hawaiian shirt in honor of Jason’s love of UT football and Jimmy Buffett.

Mr. Steele was born Nov. 4, 1970, in Martin to Steve (Tonya) Steele, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Judy Spikes Stevens, of Eva. He worked in logistics and transportation with Hansen & Adkins Trucking Company. He was an avid golfer and loved UT football. He enjoyed all kinds of music and some of his favorites included Daughtry, Paul Thorn and Jimmy Buffett.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harold and Faye Spikes, and paternal grandparents, Claude and Helen Steele.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Heather Steele; a brother, Kurt (Sacha) Steele, of Newport; his mother-in-law, Ann (James) Prater, of Jackson; his father-in-law, Dr. Joe (Joan) Appleton, of Houston, Texas; a first cousin, Doug (Christi) Baird, of Nolensville; an aunt, Pam Baird, of Waverly, and an uncle, David (Wanda) Spikes, of Aiken, S.C.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Scott Gordon Memorial c/o Pam Baird, 208 Park Circle, Waverly, TN 37185 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
