More than 1,000 children lined the streets around court square on Monday evening for the second annual Halloween on the Square event hosted by area businesses and the brainchild of Brandy Conrad and David Thomas, along with fellow Camden Downton Business Association board members, Shawn Hatler, Vicki Whitworth, and Katelyn Spivey. Spivey said after the event’s second successful run, “There was a great deal of planning behind this event and we had nearly 50 businesses included this year. Our goal is to bring people to our downtown area, and we couldn’t have had a better event to accomplish it. Thank you to all the businesses and the sheriff’s office and police department who helped rope off the area for the safety of all the children.”
