Hope all survived the storms!

Can you believe that we have already reached the last week of June? The month of June has just flown by, much like our trampoline did during the storms last Friday! It went sailing over our roof, taking a gutter with it, and landed in the middle of the fence between our yard and the neighbor’s. My 4-year-old twins weren’t too happy that their beloved trampoline was ruined!

Our shed was left with only two walls standing, and I know a number of other properties suffered damage as a result of the weekend storms. I’m just thankful that no one was hurt. Thanks to everyone at the electric system, highway dept., sheriff’s office, police dept.s, rescue squad, city crews, fire dept.s, and everyone who helped. We sure do have some amazing folks taking care of us here in Benton County!

What an exciting week for two of our bright and beautiful Benton County coeds! Congratulations to Kailey Duffy and Kerri Arnold for representing us so well last week in the Miss Tennessee Volunteer Pageant. You both made Benton County extremely proud.

As many know, Kerri won the title of Miss Tennessee Volunteer, and we are so honored to have her representing Benton County! A special thanks goes to Pamela Mirabella and Bobby “Flash” Melton for traveling to Jackson every day to keep us all updated on the progress of our hometown ladies. You both did an excellent job!

Upcoming Events

This Saturday, June 29, the Benton County Main Library will hold a Kids Community Cares event from 9:30-11:30 a.m. It’s a great way to earn service hours for the “Tennessee Kids Serve” summer challenge. Kids will pack care bags to donate to local facilities. Kids entering second grade or younger must be accompanied by an adult. Call 731-584-4772 for more information.

Also this Saturday, June 29, make plans to attend the Pickin’ in the Park event at Eva Beach, beginning at 2 p.m. If you play an instrument, sing, or just want to listen to some great music, meet at the music stage at Eva Beach. Bring snacks and lawn chairs. This event is free, but donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted for the food pantry at the Benton County Ministerial Alliance. In case of rain, festivities will be moved to the Folk Life Museum.

The Chamber is accepting resumes for the Executive Director position through Wednesday, July 3. Visit our Facebook page at Benton County/Camden Chamber of Commerce for more information.
