DONATIONS – Benton County Sheriff’s Office Toy Drive at Walmart on Saturday, Dec. 3.

With our first big weekend of Christmas events completed, there is still plenty to look forward to in the weeks ahead. There are so many more holiday events planned for the community this month, it will be impossible to make it to each one. The good news is that everyone is sure to find an event that their family will enjoy.

Both Apex Bank and First Bank will host Christmas Open Houses on Thursday, Dec. 15. Apex’s open house will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at all the Apex branches in Camden, Bruceton, and Big Sandy. Visitors can register to win a $100 gift card to Walmart. First Bank’s open house will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at both of their Camden locations. 

Camden Central High School theater program will present a Christmas Play called “Little Scrooge” on Saturday, Dec. 17. Performances will be held at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the CHS gym. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church, located at 55 Crossroads Church Rd. in Camden, will hold its Drive-thru Live Nativity on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 6-8 p.m. Child and youth church members portray the characters of the nativity story. Admission is free.

Donations Needed!

Down Home Restaurant is accepting donations for their Down Home Angel Tree event. If you would like to pick up an angel or donate to the cause, visit the restaurant or call 731-584-1989 for more info.

The Benton County Senior Center, located at 119 Cole Ave. in Camden, has a Senior Center Angel Tree for local seniors. To pick an angel from the tree, drop by the Senior Center between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. All gifts must be turned into the Senior Center by 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16. The BCSO Toy and Coat Giveaway will be Thursday, Dec. 15, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the New Beginnings Church gym at 138 College Ave. in Camden. Until Dec. 14, the Benton County Sherriff’s Office is accepting donations of toys and coats. Call 731-584-4632 during business hours for more info. 

The Camden Police Department (CPD) is accepting donations and applications for the CPD Shop with a Cop event. Applications are available until Dec. 14, and donations will be collected through Dec. 15. Call Connie Wright at 731-584-4622 or 731-220-2478 for more info. Caregivers of children chosen to participate will be notified after Dec. 14.
