Randy Gilbreth, of Bruceton, won the fall football contest for week nine, correctly picking 14 of 16 games for the week. Trailing behind Gilbreth in the week nine contest were contestants Mike Hensley and Alice Hicks, both of Camden, who each made 11 correct picks.

The only games Gilbreth got wrong last week were the contests of McEwen versus Gleason and Florida versus LSU. Gleason bested McEwen 44-36. In the bigger upset, LSU defeated Florida 45-35 on the Gators’ home turf. Gilbreth was in good company on this miss – every player except one in last week’s contest picked Florida over LSU. (Thanks for choosing the Tigers, Beverly Hicks!)

Not only did Gilbreth get the most picks correct, he also nailed the tie-break question. The week’s highest score came in the game at Perry County, where Hollow Rock-Bruceton gained 56 points to Perry County’s 46.

Check out the week ten contest on page 2B of this paper. Watch out for those late-season surges, as area high school teams push for some last chance glory over their rivals. Any cancelled games are counted as correct answers.

The $25 weekly winner’s prize is anyone’s for the taking, so try your luck and choose all 16 winners next lineup. Don’t forget to mark an answer for the tie-break question, and be sure to get your completed form to The Chronicle office by Friday at 5 p.m.
