According to booking data from the Benton County Jail, there have been more than 50 drug-related arrests in Benton County since the start of 2023. Many more recent arrests involve convicted drug offenders who have violated their sentences or probation.

Within this time frame, every law enforcement agency working in the county, including the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Camden Police Dept., Big Sandy Police Dept., 24th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Tenn. Highway Patrol, Tenn. Bureau of Investigation, and even Rangers at NBF State Park have arrested persons for the manufacture, delivery, sale, or possession of drugs or drug paraphernalia.

“As many know, drug crimes are rampant here in the county. It takes the teamwork of all of our area law enforcement to make a dent, and the Drug Task Force is a real asset as well,” said Sheriff Kenny Christopher. “I’m proud of the work our deputies, officers, and agents are doing to address this problem, and all the arrests that have been made so far in 2023.”
