It was a night full of recognitions at the city council meeting on Monday, when two city employees received service awards and police officers and county deputies were given special recognition.

Those recognized were: Randy Sparks, for 40 years of service, Kevin Johnson, for 30 years of service, Russ Wood and Melissa Smith of the Camden Police Department and Sheriff’s Deputy Jerry Wood.

Wood, Smith, and Wood were instrumental in saving man’s life in a recent house fire. Read more of that story in this edition.

The mayor mentioned that the dog park construction was underway and should be ready to open in Spring.

After more discussion about closing down the road nearest to the city park after 11 p.m. to prevent vandalism, the meeting was adjourned.
