CHS teams sweep opponents in recent games

The Camden Lions and Lady Lions kept their strong seasons going with non-district sweeps over Hollow Rock-Bruceton and West Carroll in the past week. They also celebrated 2023 Basketball Homecoming all week, with the Homecoming Court presented to family and friends before the game last Thursday.

The Lady Lions defeated HRB on Jan. 19 by a score of 63-34, while the Lions won 84-32. The Lady Lions once again defended their home court on Jan. 23 with a 55-21 victory over West Carroll, with the Lions taking care of business as well, scoring 79-57 over the War Eagles.

In the 63-34 victory over the HRB Lady Tigers, the Lady Lions were paced by 18 points from Bailey Morris, with Trinity Woodard adding 13. Adalyn Furr chipped in 12 points from long range, and Emma Pierce added 10 points to break double figures. Other scorers included Addie Melton (3), Abbi-Grace Wallace (3), Miley Hartney (2), and Avery Wright (2).

Morris was the leading scorer again against West Carroll with 21 points on the night. Both Furr and Pierce had 8 each, while the duo of Woodard and Faith Wallace each chipped in 4 points. Other scorers included Hartney (3), Wright (3), Kaydence Christopher (2), Melton (1), and A. Wallace (1). Kaden Story paced the Lions with 22 points in their romp over the Tigers, with Aiden Pierce kicking in 10. Briley Siler and Ayden Melton each had 8 apiece, while Wizdom Laws and Allan Zyla each had 7. Other scorers included Konner Comuzie (6), Beau Smith (5), Ridge Bruce (4), Isaac Moore (3), Nowah Porter (2), and Gage Johnson (2). Individual stats were not available for the West Carroll game at press time on Tuesday.
