A Tennessee man was on the run for nearly a week after authorities say he raped his own 16-month-old son. He was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s “Most Wanted” list, before being captured in Alabama on Sunday morning.
Simon Dean Porter, 33, admitted to authorities the crime involving the young child in a police interview. According to the police, the child sustained serious physical injuries. The child remains hospitalized in Nashville.
Early last week, a physician at Vanderbilt University Medical Center notified authorities of the young boy’s injuries. During the investigation, Porter fled. A statewide manhunt searching for Porter driving a green Chevy S-10 pickup truck with a red tailgate ensued. He was found in Scottsboro, Ala.
Porter said nothing at the time of his arrest. He has a previous arrest history for domestic assault and theft of property that dates back to 2006.
Officials thanked everyone who helped spread the word resulting in the capture of the “dangerous” fugitive.
The child’s mother, Danielle Bowen, 22, was charged with Felony Child Neglect for not seeking medical attention.
