The Camden Lions and Lady Lions both picked up big district wins this past Friday at Waverly. The Lady Lions notched their second straight win in the district by a score of 52-36 bringing their district total to 2-1 so far, while the Lions improved their district record to a perfect 3-0 with a 60-44 win over the Tigers.

The Lady Lions were paced by 23 points from senior standout Bailey Morris, while fellow senior Trinity Woodard added 11. Faith Wallace added 8 points to the cause, with both Adalyn Furr and Abbi-Grace Wallace netting 4 each. Emma Pierce rounded out the scoring for Camden with 2 points.

The boys’ game saw the Lions claim a 4-point lead at the half before putting the game out of reach in the second half enroute to the 16-point victory. Kaden Story was the top scorer for the Lions with 17 points, while both Briley Siler and Beau Smith chipped in 11. Other scorers included Nowah Porter with 8, Ayden Melton with 7, and Wizdom Laws and Allan Zyla with 3 each.

The Camden teams also saw district action last week against Stewart County, with the girls’ team pulling out a narrow victory, winning 47-42. Tight teamwork on Tuesday evening, Jan. 10, helped the Lady Lions to victory, their first on the district scorecard.

The Lions won easily against Steward, topping the district foe 71-43. Laws lead the Lions in scoring with 16 in the contest, while Porter contributed 13. Other scorers for the Lions included Siler with 11, Story with 10, Smith with 8, Zyla with 6, Melton with 3, and the duo of Tucker Jackson and Ridge Bruce with 2 apiece.
