WELDING CONTESTANTS – Career and Tech students (from left) Isaiah Jacobs, Gregory Clay Scott, Tucker Ledford, Nicholas Dudney, and Dylan Hudson participated in a welding competition last week in Mississippi.
SCHOLARSHIP WINNER – Gregory Clay Scott won this trophy and $3,000 in scholarships to Delta Tech.

On Friday, March 3, students from the Frank P. Lashlee Career and Technical Center competed at Delta Technical College in Horn Lake, Miss., in an annual high school welding event.
Five students from the advanced welding class taught by Tracy Baker competed in the junior and senior divisions of the competition. Nicholas Dudney, Dylan Hudson, Isaiah Jacobs, Tucker Ledford, and Gregory Clay Scott had to demonstrate their mastery of a variety of welding skills to place in the competition.
Gregory won second place in the senior division, receiving an impressive $3,000 in scholarships to attend Delta Technical College.
Nicholas won third place in the junior division.
“I am very proud of each one of my students who competed in this event,” Baker said. “Congratulations to Gregory and Nicholas for their outstanding performances.”
