Camden splits Hickman, sweeps Waverly

The Camden Lions and Lady Lions were back in action this week, hitting the road to take on Hickman County before hosting Waverly on Senior Night. The Lady Lions went 1-1 on the week, falling 44-40 at Hickman County and beating Waverly 40-32. The Lions kept their hot streak going, dispatching Hickman County 63-44 and taking down Waverly 70-46, rising to the top seed position in district play.

Trinity Woodard had the hot hand for Camden against Hickman County, notching 13 points while Adalyn Furr added 12. Emma Pierce chipped in 6 points, with Miley Hartney scoring 4. Other scorers included Abbi-Grace Wallace (2), Addie Melton (2), and Faith Wallace (1).

Furr paced the Lady Lions in their Senior Night win over Waverly with 15 points. Woodard poured in 8 points, while Pierce chipped in 7. Other scorers included F. Wallace (4), Melton (4), and A. Wallace (2).

The boys’ team had only a 5-point lead at halftime against Hickman County but were able to win by a comfortable margin thanks to a defensive effort that held their opponent scoreless in the third quarter. Ayden Melton was top scorer, pouring in 17 points. Kaden Story chipped in 13, with Allan Zyla adding 9. Other scorers included Briley Siler (8), Nowah Porter (5), Beau Smith (4), Aiden Pierce (3), Wizdom Laws (2), and Ridge Bruce (2).

The Lions enjoyed another comfortable win over the Tigers on Senior Night, as Story put up 22 points to pace Camden. Laws added 12, while Smith had 10 on the night. Other scorers included Zyla (8), Melton (7), Siler (5), Porter (4), and Tucker Jackson (2).
