Tennessee Tech men’s basketball freshman Hunter Vick earned the first honor of his college career Monday afternoon, being named the Ohio Valley Conference co-Freshman of the Week. Vick is a 2017 graduate of Camden Central High School.

In his only competition of the week, Vick helped lead the Golden Eagles to their first victory of the 2018-19 season, a 79-73 win at home over University of Louisiana at Monroe. In the contest, the rookie tied for the team lead in scoring while playing 35 minutes.

Vick tallied 20 points in the contest with sizzling 8-for-12 shooting from the field, including a 2-for-4 mark from downtown. He had his mid-range game working well on the night and was 2-for-2 at the charity stripe as well. The guard added three rebounds and two assists on the night.

Vick’s success marked the second 20-point outing of the year for Camden native, the most by a Tech freshman since the 2009-10 season. Vick was a key member of the 2017 CHS District Championship team.
