The Benton County Sheriff’s Office will be performing saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints over the long holiday week of Thursday, Dec. 22, through Monday, Jan. 2, 2023. Deputies will be out in force because Sheriff Kenny Christopher and all the staff at BCSO would like for everyone to enjoy a safe holiday season.

The goal of sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols is to increase the likelihood that impaired driving will be identified and penalized, leading to a reduction in accidents due to impaired driving. To avoid both accidents and legal consequences, plan ahead and designate a sober driver if you will be drinking during your holiday festivities.

“So far this year we have had a great holiday season with few mishaps, and we surely hope to keep things going in that positive direction all the way through New Year’s Day,” said Christopher. “If you know that your holiday celebrations will involve consuming alcohol, please arrange for a sober driver to ensure that everyone gets home safely.”
