From left: BCSO Chief Deputy Mike Lockhart, Big Sandy Chief James Sukach, Sheriff Ken Christopher, BCSO Chief Deputy Jason Lowery, and BCSO Deputy Kirk Catherwood. Last week, Sheriff Christopher and other members of the Benton County Sheriff’s Office awarded commendations recognizing the courage and dedication shown by Catherwood and Sukach in their coordinated rescue of trapped driver William Kirkpatrick on Oct. 23. Because of the brave actions of these two officers, Kirkpatrick escaped with minor injuries from his overturned vehicle, which had begun to burn. Without the quick, professional response of these first responders, Kilpatrick would not have fared well.
