The 2023 Camden Lions baseball team kicked off their season last week, opening the year with a 13-0 defeat of West Carroll before dropping games to Gibson County, Milan, and Peabody.

Through the first week of the season, Trey Dooley and Isaac Moore lead the team with matching .444 batting averages. Will Dobson and Gage Johnson each have three stolen bases, while Dooley has the lone win on the mound with a spotless ERA and 10 strikeouts versus West Carroll.

The Lions are back in action this week, with a contest at Houston County on Tuesday (score not known at press time). They will then host Kenwood for the home opener on Wednesday, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. Camden will make the return trip to Kenwood on Thursday before finishing the week with a 5:30 p.m. first pitch at home against Murray, Ky.
