Given the current situation with COVID-19, there’s no better time to take matters into your own hands by improving your health with a proper diet and regular exercise. Cardio is an important aspect of fitness that some have troubling fitting into their routine because they believe running is their only option. The truth is, if you don’t enjoy running, there are plenty of other ways to improve your cardio health. Here are some alternative cardio exercises for people who hate running.

Biking

A great way to get in some cardio exercise is to either go for a bike ride or invest in an exercise bike machine. Either way, you will get your heart rate up and get that cardio exercise you need by biking in some fashion.

Rowing

Rowing is another cardio exercise that can kick your butt and still feel totally different from running. And now only is rowing a great way to get in some cardio, but it can also work almost every part of your body.

Stairs

Another alternative cardio exercise for people who hate running is to simply go up and down flights of stairs. While you can get a StairMaster machine, you could just as easily use the ones in your home. A stair workout will prove to be very beneficial for your cardio health and strengthen your lower body in the process.

Swimming

Since it’s summer, there no cardio exercise on this list more refreshing than swimming, and it can burn a ton of calories, too. Not only is swimming fun, but it can also build strength with the added resistance of the water.

Boxing

You don’t just have to stick with traditional exercises to fulfill your cardio requirements, either—there are plenty of sports you can also incorporate into a routine. Boxing (or kickboxing) is just one of the sports you can work in your routine. It’s great for your cardio health, and it might be a better fit for you than running.

Regardless of what your fitness goals are, it’s vital that you include cardio in your routine in some capacity. Now that you realize that there’s more to it than just running, it might be easier for you to follow a well-balanced workout routine and be as healthy as possible.
