1933-2022
Bettye “Mopsey” Hodges Bell, 88, of McKenzie, passed away Thursday, Aug. 17, at AHC McKenzie in McKenzie. Graveside services were held Friday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m., at Hopewell Cemetery in Gleason. Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She was born Oct. 29, 1933.
Debra L. Smith
1933-2022
Debra Lee Lang Smith went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 16. Debbie spent her life serving others. There wasn’t a person she couldn’t talk to and there wasn’t a job she wouldn’t do to help someone in need. Debbie loved the Lord and she loved her family. They were her world.
She was proceeded in death by her son, Stephen G. Greenwall, her parents, Daniel and Jean Lang, and her great-granddaughter Carsyn M. Greenwall.
She is survived by her loving husband, Anthony D. Smith, her daughter, Rachel M. Greenwall, her grandchildren, TJ and Courtney Greenwall, Dylan Wells, Whitney Carroll, and her great-grandson Coltyn S. T. Carroll, as well as her siblings, Tammy (Rick) Grimes, Chris (Roy) Reese, Danette White, and Daniel T. Lang, as well as many nieces and nephews, too many to list.
Memorials may be given in Debbie’s honor to the Missionary Grove Baptist Church in Camden Tennessee for their building fund which she had a passion for. Isaiah 57:1&2 – The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord! II Corinthians 5:8.
Patricia D. Baker
1965-2022
Patricia “Darlene” Baker, 57, of Milan, formerly of Camden, passed away Friday, Aug. 19, at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 22, at ??, in the chapel of Plunk Funeral Home of Camden with Steve Bradford officiating. Burial followed at Sandy Point Cemetery.
Mrs. Baker was born April 2, 1965, in Benton County, to the late Archie T. Hughes, Sr., and Ruby M. Douglas Hughes. She was a Baptist in Faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas A. Hughes, Jr., and a sister, Tina Dicus.
She is survived by a son, Justin E. Baker, of Huntingdon; three brothers, Jerry Hughes, of Memphis, Ricky Hughes, of Camden, and David (Suzy) Hughes, of Carmel, Ind.; a sister, Rita (Steve) Tabor, of Fairview; and several nieces and nephews.
Glenda J. Hollingsworth
1946-2022
Glenda Joan Hollingsworth, 75, of Bruceton, passed away Monday, Aug. 15, at her residence. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 17, in the chapel of Plunk Funeral Home of Camden with Bill Douglas and Mark Hollingsworth officiating. Burial followed at Prospect Cemetery in Camden.
Mrs. Hollingsworth was born Oct. 18, 1946, in Carroll County, to the late Ealon Robison and Geraldine Eubank Robison. She was a member of Prospect General Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jeners Hollingsworth; two sons, Michael (Angela) Hollingsworth and Terry (Melissa) Hollingsworth, both of Bruceton; a daughter, Kim (Scott) Barnes, of Hollow Rock; a brother, James (Joyce) Robison, of Hollow Rock; a sister, Sandra (Randy) Edwards, of Bruceton; seven grandchildren, Brennen, Preston, Sarah, and Drake Hollingsworth, Drew (Abigail) and Evan Dodd, and Amanda (Kenny) Carey, and a great-grandchild, Blakely G. Dodd.
Patricia A. Taylor
1940-2022
Patricia Ann “Mrs. Pat Pat” Taylor, 82, of Camden, passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, at her residence. Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 21, in the chapel of Plunk Funeral Home of Camden with Gary Greer officiating. Burial followed at Davis Chapel Cemetery in Carroll County.
Mrs. Taylor was born March 24, 1940, in Carroll County, to the late Clyde A. Autry and Hazel Cary Autry. She was a member of Grace Baptist church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Taylor, a son, Daniel “Danny” Taylor, three sisters, Faye, Ellis, Sue Frazee and Marzine Autry, and five brothers, Bernice, Arvil, James R., Bob and Bill Autry.
She is survived by a daughter, Teresa (Kenneth) Robbins, of Camden; a son, David L. (Teresa) Taylor, of Medina; her grandson and caretaker, Colby Taylor, od Camden; four stepchildren, Tracey Taylor-Hathcock, Susan Sneed, Julie Medlin and John D. (Janice) Taylor; a sister, Shirley Altom, of Lexington; five grandchildren, Josh, Cody and Katelyn Taylor, Jeremy Robbins, and Brittany Boner, and seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Amber, Riley, Brody, Bella, Hadley and Cooper.
Mary K. Burson
1931-2022
Mary Kathryn Burson, 90, of Camden, passed away peacefully at home while worshiping the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 11. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Oakdale Funeral Home of Camden with Jerry Colter officiating. Burial followed at Eva Flatwoods Cemetery.
Mrs. Burson was born Nov. 25, 1931, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to the late Vera Bonita and James Walner. When my mother was a small child her parents relocated to Los Angeles, Calif., where she grew up. Mary attended L.I.F.E. Bible College in Los Angeles, Calif. where she met and later married my late father, Neil Heiman. Mary obtained her bachelor’s degree and became an ordained minister in 1955. 1955 may be the year she technically became an “ordained minister” however, she was ordained since birth, and she spent her whole life ministering to others and worshiping the Lord.
Mary imparted the gift of worship to all her children. Mary Kathryn truly was the Proverbs 31 woman. In Exodus 34 there is an account where Moses spoke with God face to face as a man speaks with his friend, and this made his countenance radiate, glow and shine!
One of my first memories is at the age of 3 sitting on the kitchen floor and watching my mom lift her voice and hands in praise and worship to the Lord. As I watched her, I remember Mom had a light about her that literally shone so much so that I asked her if she was an angel. She just laughed with joy. This process continued my entire life. I watched mom worship with joy, I watched her go before the throne room of God and worship her way through anger, fear, and pain. My mom lived out a life of worship.
There is a song that Darlene Zschech recorded called “None but Jesus” This song exemplifies my mother’s life. Here are the lyrics:

Crucified to set me free. Now I live to bring Him praise!
Mary Kathryn Burson passed away peacefully while worshiping the Lord! Mom told me once that life or getting older was a series of gracious relinquishments. One thing that she never relinquished was her worship and praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! P.S. She never did answer that question that I asked her throughout my entire life. Mom are you an angel? I believe the answer was yes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Neil G. Heiman, and a brother Freddie Walner. She is survived by her loving, faithful, best friend, and husband, John R. Burson; her sister, Judy Haney, of Madera, Calif.; two daughters, Karen Chandler, of Knoxville, and Bonie’ L. Curtin, of Camden; a son, Neil G. Heiman, of Brea, Calif.; a daughter by marriage, Cheryl Galindo, of Palmdale, Calif.; two sons by marriage, Will Yates, of Hawaiian Gardens, Calif., and Steven Yates, of Lakewood, Calif.; and lots of beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who adored her!
Qunnie B. Kee
1933-2022
Qunnie Blondell Kee, 89, of Camden, passed away Sunday, Aug. 21, at her residence. Graveside services were held Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m., at Eastview Cemetery with Mike Melton officiating.
Mrs. Kee was born Jan. 20, 1933, in Benton County, to the late Amos Oatsvall and Luna Nunnery Oatsvall.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, J.R. Kee, a son, Bobby Kee, a brother, Nelson Oatsvall, and two sisters, Sue Gallimore and Lou Arp.
She is survived by a son, Billy (Patricia) Kee, of Camden; seven Grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Jackie F. Wimberly
1939-2022
Jackie Ferman Wimberly, 83, of Camden, passed away Friday, Aug. 19, at his residence. Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m., at Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church with Randy Thompson officiating. Burial followed at Cross Roads Cemetery.
Mr. Wimberly was born June 20, 1939, in Camden, to the late Joseph A. Wimberly and Thelma Coleman Wimberly. Jackie was a member and deacon of Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church, serving in many capacities throughout the years, including Sunday School Superintendent and as a member of the building committee. He partnered with his brother-in-law, Darel Smothers to start and grow S & W Pallet Co. Inc. into a company employing as many as 88 people at one time. Previously, he worked as a supervisor at Genesco Shoe Company. He enjoyed working in the cattle operation he ran with his son, but the biggest joy in his life was watching the antics of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. With family gatherings numbering into the 30’s, he often commented that he didn’t need any presents, just to be in the presence of his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a sister, Janice Gillon and a grandson, Clinton R. Wimberly.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois Smothers Wimberly; two sons, Randy (Brenda) Wimberly and Keith (Tonya) Wimberly; a daughter, Lisa (Ray) Higdon; a sister, Brenda (Jimmy) Bennett; nine grandchildren, Jill (Stephen) King, Ryan (Chelsa) Ange, Bretta (Nic) Farina, Jessica Ange, Brandon (Kelsey), Bailey and Bennett (Jennifer) Wimberly, Jack and Spencer Higdon; and 15 great-grandchildren.
