City Council members approved construction to begin on the city pool on Tuesday night after receiving $685,537 from the Tennessee Municipal League (TML) POOL, a risk management service.

The city pool suffered irreparable damage last fall into winter, when the city contracted with Huntingdon’s Josh Guinn Construction.

According to City Mayor Roger Pafford, the pool was drained in August 2017 for the repairs and caused extensive concrete caving and buckling. Lights and tiles started leaking.

At the time, both Pafford and park maintenance supervisor, Dennis Weston, had concerns if the pool could ever reopen.

After months of dickering with the construction company and insurance, a check was finally granted to the city and repairs will resume when weather permits.
