CHS basketball banquet honors players

Camden Central High School held its annual Basketball Awards Banquet last weekend, honoring outstanding players from the 2018-19 season. Players from both the boys’ and girls’ teams were present to celebrate the close of another year.

On the boy’s team, Coach David Roberts distributed awards to seven players in recognition of another successful season. The Coach’s Award went to Cade Wyatt, while rebound leader Sage Duffey was singled out to receive the Lion Pride Award.

Chase Douglas had the highest free throw percentage, while Davis Hopkins earned honors for the highest percentage of successful 3-point shots. Earning the honor of being named most efficient, Tytus Guajardo had the highest overall percentage of successful shots.

Heath Daniel earned awards for having the most assists and for exceeding 100 deflections. Garrett Vick was named most improved, in part for being the steals leader and for also exceeding 100 deflections.

On the girls’ team, Coach Renee Sutton handed out awards to eight players for their contributions to the team over the season. Her Coach’s Award went to Lauren Burkett, while Kim Frazee earned the Lion Pride Award.

Brenna Caldwell had the highest percentage of successful 3-point shots. Alabama Morrision earned honors for being most improved, while Rylee Pafford earned the Hustle Award. Haylee Lowry was named Teammate of the Year.

Rylee Rushing was named Defensive Player of the Year for having the most blocks and most rebounds. Named the overall Most Valuable Player, Abby Berry was named the most efficient for earning the most points and having the most assists and steals on the team.
