Playgrounds are a welcome sight for many people for a myriad of reasons. Exhausted parents may want a place for their kids to release some energy; children need a place to grow and make friends. Playgrounds are wonderful creations, and more and more of them are becoming even more fantastical and unique. Check out some of the coolest playgrounds around the world here!

Lake Macquarie Variety Playground

Speers Point, Australia

With a 30-foot spiral slide, a zip line, and a 40-climbing tower, this playground couldn’t possibly get any cooler—but it does! This Australian playground is designed for children of all abilities, from the visually impaired to the wheelchair-bound.

Woodland Discovery Playground

Memphis, Tennessee

Located in a park in the woods, the Woodland Discovery Playground was created to provide a chance for children to fall in love with climbing, running, sliding, swinging, building, and discovering. The playground is separated into different play areas, some of which include treehouses and others that are full of sand.

Climbit at the W5 Children’s Museum

Belfast, Ireland

An indoor playground in Ireland, this climbing structure acts as the perfect place to lessen your child’s energy before they head into the museum. Kids can navigate through the structure, which is designed in the shape of a Celtic dragon, by climbing up the 96 curved platform steps. A bit different from your typical playground, this one is a cool one to visit!

Woods of Net Pavilion at Hakone Open Air Museum

Hakone, Japan

Another unique play space is the Woods of Net Pavilion. Artist Toshiko Horiuchi MacAdam has been hand-crocheting these brightly colored net play areas for several years, and at the Open Air Museum, you can experience them! Kids can bounce on or hang from the designs—they’re the perfect spot for both kids and adults to interact with the fanciful creation.

Lazy Dayz Outdoor Children’s Playground

Owensboro, Kentucky

From tons of walking paths to a never-ending slew of kids’ activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at the Lazy Dayz playground—and by everyone, we truly do mean everyone! This playground was designed to be totally accessible and barrier-free. You could definitely spend an entire day here!

Clemyjontri Park

McLean, Virginia

Here you’ll find a carousel, walking trails, and four separate “rooms”: the Rainbow Room, the Schoolhouse & Maze Room, the Fitness & Fun Room, and the Movin’ & Groovin’ Room. Each room has its own specific goals to get kids moving and feeling included. The space has all the important elements of a successful public park, including play and educational facilities, themed equipment, learning panels, and more. Why wouldn’t you want to go?

Van Campenvaart Playground

Hague, the Netherlands

Another wonderfully inclusive playground, this play area has tons of folds and ramps to welcome kids with special needs. Kids can discover climbing grips, tactile elements, whisper tubes, hammocks, and more! The park is designed with natural play in mind.
